Well-Child Visits and Immunizations

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that a child come for well visits to assess growth and development. We followed the guidelines set forth by the AAP. During these visits, immunizations are discussed and performed. We strive to follow immunization guidelines set forth by the AAP, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practice (ACIP). At Bossier Pediatrics Partners, we feel that immunizations are important to protect the health of your child. We understand that some parents have some reservations about vaccinations. We welcome any discussions regarding vaccinations and we are open to possible alternative schedules. Information on immunizations can be found at www.immunize.org and www.vaccinesafety.edu.

We will be glad at the end of your well visit to provide you with your child's immunization record. If your child participates in sports and needs clearance for participation, consider combining the sports exam with your child’s annual well exam to make your time more efficient.

During your child's well visits, you will be asked to help assess their development. If a child’s development is delayed, it is best to diagnose early so that appropriate intervention can take place. We use Ages & Stages Questionnaires to assess children up to 6 years of age. To assess for autism, we perform the MCHAT. We use Pediatric Symptoms Checklists (PSC) to evaluation a child's mental health starting at age 6. You can download the MCHAT and PSC forms from our website.
